CBM will ensure that the student is getting the most out of their learning while comparing them to CCSS.

Explain to your teachers why curriculum-based measurements can help support all students, especially those with disabilities.
Curriculum-Based Measurements is very useful for students, parents, and teachers. CBM will ensure that the student is getting the most out of their learning while comparing them to CCSS. If your child receives special education services, CBM graphs can increase productive communication at IEP meetings about the child’s current performance level (McLane). CBM focuses on academics of the student, help students learning growth, motivates students, show parents & teachers the students progress, is individualized for the student, and reports testing scores to help parents, teacher, and students. We want to promote students growth in all areas and meet their individual needs by using CBM data.
In addition, address why this is important in terms of accountability from an NCLB perspective, as well as from a special education/IEP perspective.
The importance of CBM accountability from the NCLB perspective happens because the teachers have to report each week progress. When the teachers use the graph, they can see what needs are being what and what the student has learned. This also focuses mainly on the student, and the teachers can modify learning material when needed. From the special education/IEP perspective students learning is based on their needs and what they already know. We want students to perform at the best of their abilities by putting their skills through modification.
Explain several strategies and tools that teachers can use in their daily instruction to effectively monitor student progress.
Using a daily log will be helpful because you can see if the student if meeting their daily goals. Teachers can also check if students are working on steps to reach weekly goals with the daily log. Rubrics can be used to see if the student is learning the material through each lesson. I will include short regular student personal needs rubrics to ensure that we are working on their own needs as well as academic. The last thing I will use is an oral presentation to see what the student knows. The goal here is to make sure the student understands the material.
